The recurring character is based on the face and hairstyle of my identical twin, but stands in for me. At the time, representing myself directly felt too difficult. I therefore created a figure that was closely connected to me while remaining clearly separate from me.

The small drawings translate physical pain into fragmented and sometimes humorous images. Psychological and emotional distress, which I wanted to express but could not address directly, appears instead as dense writing around the figure’s head. The drawings were made individually, embroidered, and later joined with white thread to form a single work.

Looking back, the piece reflects a conflicting desire: to be understood, while also fearing disclosure.
