In the video, I confront a trauma from the distant past that I had long believed I had left behind in Korea—until, in Germany, I came to recognize how deeply it continued to shape my life.

The 163 handmade porcelain heads represent the 163 months during which this unspoken experience continued to reverberate. Arranged in a circle around me, they are shattered one by one. As the action unfolds, hesitation gives way to anger, exhaustion, and a brief moment of relief, alongside the realization that it is still not simply over.

The act was not initially conceived as an artwork, but as an attempt to contain and hold onto this pain through a single gesture. In retrospect, the work marks less the beginning of a thematic body of work than an inner turning point. Later works do not address the event directly, but continue to develop questions of attitude, responsibility, and how to live on with its shadow.
